Binary files on Usenet

There's something you should know right from the start: Binary files are only allowed in binary Newsgroups! All Newsgroups are text Newsgroups, except sub-groups of alt.binaries.* and if you post binary files to text Newsgroups, you will certainly get into trouble. Your Usenet account might even get terminated because of this, so DON'T DO IT!

Please always keep in mind that binary files harm the Usenet and if you want to keep the Usenet alive, please forgo posting binaries to Usenet whenever possible. And believe me, it's more often possible than you may think right now.
