Learn how to read Usenet posts

What are signatures good for?

For whatever you want. Signatures are placed at the end of a post. They may contain links to your webpages, other e-mail addresses that you own, information about you, favorite quotes or anything you like. They start with a line only containing "-- " (see, there is a blank space at the end!) and consist of all further lines to the end of the post.

Quick tip:
When replying to a post, you should actually not quote them, even if you quote the whole post and you should avoid to create too big signatures for signing your own posts, that's wasting space, bandwidth and download time. Read "What should I do and what should I avoid?" from the Usenet Newbie Project index page.
